About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end journals, variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and business partnering.
This role helps stakeholders understand financial performance and contributes to informed decision-making. With a focus on continuous improvement and mentoring, the role also plays a key role in enhancing reporting processes and building capability within the finance team.
The ideal person will have:
• Relevant experience in financial and/or management accounting, ideally within a complex or regulated industry such as aged care or healthcare.
• Proven ability to review P&L and variance reports with operational stakeholders and contribute to financial performance discussions.
• Excellent analytical and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skill and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, and reporting tools.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, plus manage competing priorities.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholder and present complex financial information clearly.
• Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and respond to dynamic business needs.
• Understanding of accounting standards and be able to apply the knowledge effectively in day to day responsibilities.
• Familiarity with aged care funding models (e.g. AN-ACC) and the financial implications of regulatory compliance is desirable, but not essential.
